Last week I talked about how to get the best photos for when you getting ready on your wedding day. Since we are natural light photographers, we also like to utilize natural light when taking family photos. Family photos are not only important because these are your family members. Also, because more than likely these are the photos that your parents and grandparents are going to want the most. (other than you and your new spouse) Since most churches and some venues have unforgiving light, such as florescent and tungsten lights. We like to take advantage of natural light. Plus, unless you have the skin tone of Taylor Swift or Taylor Lautner, no one looks good in florescent lighting. We highly encourage to take photos outside, such as a large shady area. This is to avoid harsh sunlight, which creates squinty eyes and hard shadows on the face. Plus, if there is any type of greenery or a beautiful building for a great backdrop, we want to take advantage of that.
Obviously, we know that the weather doesn’t always permit outside photos, in that case we will work with what have. There is nothing wrong with indoor pictures. We just want to provide the best possible lighting for photos in the event that it is gorgeous outside!
Here are a few examples of family photos we have taken outside:
SUCH a terrific point, Cory + Jackie! I thought you’d want me to have a really “organized” timeline and locations of the day, but when you suggested I change in a more well lit area, I felt completely confident in your professional skill and knowledge of your craft! Thank you for your insight!
Such a great post to encourage your brides to have outdoor portraits! And beautiful portraits to back it up!
What a great looking family~Love is a beautiful thing!
